WIC guidelines allow a few exceptions to taking bloodwork. See your State's policy manual for guidelines. Some instances where states may make exceptions include:

• Individuals whose religious beliefs prohibit the taking of blood

• Participants with chronic medical conditions such as hemophilia

Bloodwork exceptions MUST be documented in the participant’s record. Now, you'll complete a short review activity, then jump into Lesson Two where you'll get to see how this blood test is performed.
